Magnolia Tintype Co. in action

With your creative and artistic help, the Velaslavasay staff will conjure the reanimation of the most exquisite corpses and calavera masks through markers and popsicle sticks. We will also be joined by Forest Casey and Leslie Williams of Magnolia Tintype Co. who will demonstrate a photographic process from the 1850s, developing images on aluminum that will last for 300 years. Guan Rong of OneHouse ArtExperience, an experimental art school and museum, will travel from East Los Angeles, bringing along a trunk of seasonal children's art and curiosities. Late multimedia artist and dear Velaslavasay friend Jordan Biren's voice will make memorial in the Nova Tuskhut through his spoken-word piece to birdsong "Maynard Timothe: Impossible Stellbar." And at any particular hour, the playful spirits of the late Bob Baker's famous marionettes may make a presence. Catch a final show at the historic Bob Baker Marionette Theatre throughout the month of November as they bid farewell to their original location and move onto new spaces.
