More about Video Consortium (VC)

VC believes that strong community plays an essential role in the creation and dissemination of impactful content. In today’s ever-connected yet increasingly isolated world, our global network fills a major void for the next generation working at the intersection of video journalism and nonfiction film. Through our programs, we foster a uniquely supportive ecosystem and actively drive a culture of collaboration. Together, we’re working to bring about a new era of nonfiction storytelling.

VC empowers members with jobs, resources, and connections needed to tell effective stories with impact.

The VC does this through global and local efforts:
Our online forums connect thousands of journalists and filmmakers from over 100 cities and 20 countries, providing opportunities to skill-share, give/get jobs, and source advice. Our robust chapters around the globe generate local initiatives and host tight-knit gatherings to celebrate local creators and provide invaluable networking opportunities. Our education arm empowers members throughout professional development opportunities. Our mentorship team facilitates productive professional exchange. Our programming teams (video channel VCTV and podcast Rough Cut) offer edutainment — ways for professionals to grow, for recent grads to blossom, and for all to be inspired by and constantly learning from content made by our community, for our community. Our own members generate programming, too, from book clubs to mastermind groups and beyond.
