Before Nanook: The Frozen Zone in Silent Film

with Dr. Russell Potter and Kenn Harper

Saturday, May 10, 2014 - 8:00pm

Join historians Dr. Russell A. Potter and Kenn Harper for an elucidation of the history of the Arctic in Hollywood, including the story of Nancy Columbia and her family who were placed on view as part of a 1915 "human ethnic exhibition" on the Ocean Park Pier in Santa Monica.

We also welcome the arrival of the Nova Tuskhut, the only Polar Trading Post on the American mainland. Experience the life of an Arctic explorer and come in out of the heat into the chill.
