Bob Baker Day 2021

Born February 9th here in Los Angeles, Bob Baker was on earth for 90 years (1924-2014) and in that time created the wonderful world of the Bob Baker Marionette Theater, dazzling generations of Angelenos. Every year the Bob Baker Marionnette Theatre (BBMT) puts together a celebration of Bob’s life and legacy in the form of Bob Baker Day — a Festival involving puppets, art, creativity and historical celebration. This annual event has grown to include countless puppeteers, staff members, fabricators, fans, children, and people who were moved by Bob Baker’s work both during his lifetime and after.

Happy BBMT

For our contribution to the festival, the Velaslavasay Panorama partners with Shenyang Visual Archive, to give a video tour of Shengjing Panorama, the historic train stations La Grande Station (Los Angeles, 1893-1939) and Shenyang Station (1910 to present), along with a garden visit.

Since 2017 the Velaslavasay Panorama has participated annually in Bob Baker Day, which this year BBMT celebrates in collaboration with Metro Art. Bob Baker Day 2021 will launch digitally from historic Union Station via www.BobBakerDay.com on FEBRUARY 27th and will be available for exploration through March 7, 2021.

Revisit this tour through an online post by the Shenyang Visual Archive or by watching this YouTube video.
