Film-In-Residence returns to the Velaslavasay Panorama this Saturday with Václav Vorlícek’s WHO WANTS TO KILL JESSIE? / KDO CHCE ZABÍT JESSII? (1965) an illustrative Czech sci-fi fantasy about a scientist who invents a way to screen a person's dreams on TV and manipulate the dream in order to engineer the perfect worker.  A Black and White film with Techincolor essence!

On Friday, November 11th, from 9pm-midnight, Legendary record collector Michael Kieffer will be spinning shellac and vinyl from the 1920s-1970s at 1642, a neighborhood watering hole in Historic Filipinotown. The majority of the evening's music will be 1950s-70s African pop and 1920s-30s jazz, with Hawaiian, country, blues, R&B, and various Latin American and Caribbean styles thrown into the mix. Many of these records are not available on any reissue, and all will be selected to catch the ear even amidst the din of a chatty crowd.

No cover! Enjoy a fine beverage (or three) at the bar! Arrive early to find a place to sit.

Les Sewing Sisters (Lun*na Menoh & Saori Mitome) music is made from sewing machines recorded and electronically filtered with lyrics about making clothing, sewing, and designing costumes. This Record Read-lease Party will showcase spoken-word iterations Les Sewing Sisters songs to highlight the nature of sewing.

Following the reading is a screening of "Les Sewing Sisters Home Tour", directed by Jeff Mizushia. Made during the pandemic, Les Sewing Sisters traveled to many closets around Los Angeles to perform for and in front of people’s clothes.

Jeff Mizushia also directed the documentary "Who Is Lun*na Menoh?" (2022), now available to rent & purchase online.
