Tomorrow, tour the garden and exhibits at the Velaslavasay Panorama, including the 360-degree painted panorama Shengjing Panorama, and watch The Gold Diggers.

This iteration of Film-In-Residence includes an aural interjection from The Gold Diggers in the Nova Tuskut and a limited edition postcard for all attendees. 

Director Sally Potter’s (Orlando, The Tango Lesson) first feature-length film, The Gold Diggers was structured to reflect its own premise and featured an all-female crew that shared the same pay scale, including renown cinematographer Babette Mangolte (Jeanne Dielman, News From Home), composer Lindsay Cooper (Feminist Improvising Group) and writer/art director Rose English (Ornamental Happiness, Tantamount Esperance).

 


 

BOB BAKER DAY 2023

On Saturday, February 25th 10am - 5pm, join the fun at the 9th Annual Bob Baker Day. This Free all day outdoor carnival is held at the Los Angeles State Historic Park (1245 N Spring St, Los Angeles, CA 90012) and involves puppets, music, games, special guests and more!

At the festival, Velaslavasay Panorama and OneHouse Arts will present an "Animals in Motion" workshop. Attendees will have the opportunity to create an optical illusion with simple materials.


 

ANNOUNCING....."GRAND VIEWS"
AT FOREST LAWN MUSEUM

Grand Views: The Immersive World of Panoramas at Forest Lawn Museum explores the history of panoramas, a large-scale artistic format popularized in the 18th and 19th centuries. Grand Views will feature an array of artworks and artifacts, including never-before-seen paintings, prints and posters dating to the 19th century, archival photographs, and more. A centerpiece of the exhibition is Panorama of the Valley of the Smokes (60 ft x 4 ft), painted by Sara Velas (Founder of the Velaslavasay Panorama) in the year 2000.  

 

The Hall of Crucifixion-Resurrection, located next to Forest Lawn Museum, displays the Crucifixion (195 ft x 45 ft), which was painted by Polish artist Jan Styka in the 1890s. The exhibition will feature original artworks and artifacts related to Jan Styka’s painting and other crucifixion panoramas. 

Grand Views: The Immersive World of Panoramas will be open from May 13-September 10, 2023 at Forest Lawn Museum 1712 S Glendale Ave, Glendale, CA 91205 from 10 AM-5 PM, Tuesday-Sunday.
